Made in India, designed by Sandra Figuerola for GAN. The Goyescas rug uses the technique called Chain Stitch. This is an embroidered rug where the design is drawn on the backing fabric which is held to a frame rolled in and out. Skilled workers use special crochet hooks to create the looping stitches to form flowing curved lines to mimic drawing in thread. The rug gives a contemporary style with strong undertones of a traditional hand-worked crewel design. This highly decorative ethnic influenced rug is exclusive to John Lewis and has been designed especially for us. The company Gandia Blasco, was born in 1941 as a family business manufacturing blankets. The activities of the company were developed on an industrial level, with an intensive production during the Spanish post- war period, essentially aimed at the army and hospitals. The GAN brand was founded in late 2008 in order to give an identity to Gandia Blasco's line of textiles.
